Test Format

1. Reading and Use of English
Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Weight: 40% of total marks
Content: 8 parts, ~56 questions
Parts 1–4: Use of English (grammar & vocabulary, e.g. multiple-choice cloze, word formation, key word transformations)
Parts 5–8: Reading (multiple-choice, gapped text, matching, etc.)

 

2. Writing
Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Weight: 20% of total marks
Content: 2 parts
Part 1 (compulsory): An essay (based on given input, e.g. 2 short texts/points).
Part 2 (choice of 3): Letter/email, report, proposal, or review.

 

3. Listening
Time: ~40 minutes
Weight: 20% of total marks
Content: 4 parts, ~30 questions
Multiple-choice questions, sentence completion, matching speakers with statements, etc.

4. Speaking
Time: 15 minutes (per pair of candidates)
Weight: 20% of total marks
Content: 4 parts (done face-to-face, usually in pairs)
Part 1: Interview (general questions about you, your life, studies, etc.)
Part 2: Long turn (each candidate talks for 1 minute about photos, then comments on partner’s photo)
Part 3: Collaborative task (discussing and negotiating ideas with partner)
Part 4: Discussion (broader conversation led by examiner, linked to Part 3 theme)
